The Boleyn Gesture

{June 4, 2009}   Hoowooduhhthought?

That prices would be going down? I guess it makes sense, that if people don’t have much money they won’t buy anything unless it’s on sale, but I’ve noticed a cost decrease in golf equipment… I actually just got 40% off of a new set of Callaways… Jeez I tell you what, there’s nothing like a new set of golf clubs, esp. iron sets… I mean, a bitchin’ new driver is one thing, but you only get to take it out about a dozen times per round since it’s a tee-only club. You hit the hell out of irons during ANY round on ANY course. Any experienced golfer will tell you that he/she would take a great approach shot over a great tee shot on any par 4+ hole…

I also love the feel of a perfectly struck iron shot… that razor-blade feeling and all that control… it makes me ol’ ticker skip a beat sometimes if the sun’s out and the breeze picks up just right, and there’s just enough beer in me to forgive myself for a poor shot (or more so, a series of them…) without affecting the muscle memory of my swing.

{May 24, 2009}   oooh! yo’ face!

Protect it… from everything

Including the sun. That’s why whenever I’m going to be out in the sun (especially for hours out on the links) I always wear a golf hat. They are engineered to keep my head cool and keep my face in the shade, because we all know the sunblock can only go so far. Also, who wants all that oily crap on their face? However, I’m not saying that a good, high S.P.F. sun protecting lotion isn’t something you should carry with your other golf equipment, I’m just saying that staying in the shade is your best option. So get a nice, wide-brimmed hat and keep your face and neck free from sunburn and god forbid, skin cancer…

Well, I’m as happy as a pearl crappin’ clam in the 50’s, and do you know why? because the winter’s grass-killing grip is finally letting up and it’s time to hit the links for another season of great golf. But before the courses open and all I can do is hit orange range balls into a big, empty field of snow, I’m going to outfit myself with some new golf equipment
. And instead of putting the snow tires on to drive into town, I’m going to order my new Taylormade irons online to be delivered to my house. Sure saves on gas and convenience, and since I won’t be able to use them for another couple of weeks anyways, I have time to shop around on various websites and save money by shipping ground.

Boy, I can’t wait till the snow drains off and those golden green pastures peek out to enjoy the springtime with the rest of us!

{August 15, 2008}   Check these out!

Here are some cool golf shirts I found online…

I also found golf equipment

If you’ve been shopping around online for golf apparel or golf equipment, you should know that in my experience, Blind 9 golf has the best stock of items as well as the best service i’ve ever seen on the internet.

I ordered my last set of clubs from them and they arrived on time. I got them at a great price and they have really helped me improve my game!

Going to Roger Dunn. It’s like the size of a Wal-Mart, stocking only new and used golf equipment. As golf has become more popular over the past ten years (thanks Tiger!), the R&D departments at major golf manufacturers has increased their budget, and the new technology in golf equipment is amazing. I love being able to go down to the store and check out all the new clubs!
